Waste Management is the garbage and recycling hauler for Harpers Ferry. Recycling is required by the City of Harpers Ferry. Recycling containers are available at the City Office or Shop for a fee.

Garbage and Recycling is picked up every Monday. You are advised to have it set out curbside by 6 a.m. The fee for garbage pick up is on your quarterly sewer bill and is paid to the City of Harpers Ferry.

Building Permits are required when any of the following is done to a new or existing property:

Enclosing an existing structure

Adding onto an existing structure

Adding a new structure to the property

Decks and Porches.

Moving a mobile home onto a lot or mobile home court.

Portable buildings

A $50.00 building permit fee needs to be paid prior to approval.

Building permit applications can be picked up at City Hall during business hours OR call the city clerk and one will be sent to you OR

Harpers Ferry does not have its own Police Department. Policing is provided through an annual, renewable contract with the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office.
