The Harpers Ferry Fire Department was established in 1941. Currently, there are 21 volunteer firefighters on the roster. They include: Dave Cota, Ron Cota, Mike Collins, Pat Cota, Dan Schulte, Joe Mohn, Steve Hanson, Jack Heffern, Bill Moody, Steve Weighner, Robert Vavra, Jason McGeough, Mike Moody, Jim Cota, Larry Ashbacher, Mark Jones, Pat Delaney, Brad Benzing, Bruce Benzing, Levi Palmer, Travis Johanningmeier, Keith McCormick, Stewart Farnum, Ryan Collins.

The Harpers Ferry Fire Department is dispatched by the Allamakee County Sheriffs Department. 911 should be called for all emergency calls.
